  • Sir Walter Buffalo

    Sir Walter Buffalo is probably the most used turf in residential properties in Perth and is a favourite amongst families with children and pets.  It is popular as it is a soft, hard wearing turf, that retains its lush green colour throughout the seasons and can be grown in full sun and is shade tolerant.  Sir Walter is a broad leaf turf with a shallow root system and non-invasive horizontal growth pattern.  Due to its growth pattern, it provides a dense coverage which prevents weeds, is fast repairing but is less invasive than other turfs.  Sir Walter Buffalo needs average watering, and is active all year round, however, slows down during the winter season.  A rotary mower can be used to maintain Sir Walter Buffalo, and due to its fast growth in the warmer months, it may need mowing more regularly than some of your other varieties.

  • Palmetto Buffalo

    Palmetto Buffalo is commonly used in residential properties due to its low maintenance and soft to touch and underfoot, making it a favourite for family gardens.  It is a hard wearing turf that grows well in sun and shade, and maintains its emerald green colour throughout the year.  Palmetto Buffalo has a wide blade leaf, and a runner that grows across the ground, which creates a dense lawn, making it difficult for weeds to grow.  It is a less invasive turf than other varieties and is easy to remove from unwanted areas.  Palmetto Buffalo produces a low seed head, therefore often a favourite for allergy sufferers.  It is low maintenance as it requires less watering, fertiliser and mowing, once established, than other varieties.  A rotary mower can be used.

  • Matilda Soft Buffalo

    Matilda Soft Buffalo is often chosen for coastal properties and around pools, due to its tolerance of salt and pests.  It is also often a favourite for under play equipment due to the extra softness of the leaf.  It is a low maintenance, hard wearing turf that grows well in the shade and the sun.  It has a deep fast growing root system that ensures your turf is established quickly, reducing heavy watering in the early days, and encourages rapid repair.  It is a less invasive turf and due to its density discourages the growth of weeds.  Matilda Soft Buffalo needs average mowing time with a rotary mower. 

  • Village Green Kikuyu

    Village Green Kikuyu turf is most used in high traffic areas, due to it being extremely hardy and fast growing, which makes repairing of the lawn quicker than other varieties.  It is a popular choice for families with dogs that like to dig and tear up the lawn, however it is an invasive turf, so regular maintenance is needed to keep it under control.  It is a turf that needs 5-6 hours of sunlight a day and is dense in nature therefore discourages the growth of weeds.  It needs mowing regularly and with a cylinder mower.

  • Winter Green Couch

    For a cost effective lawn, that is hard wearing and pleasing on the eye, Winter Green Couch is the turf to choose.  It is a favourite as it holds its lovely emerald green colour throughout the year, including the colder months, however due to its rapid growth and dense cover it is an invasive turf, that needs regular maintenance to keep it under control.  Winter Green Couch gives you that lovely bowling green look and feel, if it is maintained the way it should, so is a favourite for the lawn enthusiast with time to maintain it.  It needs a minimum of four hours sunlight and can be grown under filtered shade.  It needs regularly mowing and with a cylinder mower.

  • Empire Zoysia

    Empire Zoysia turf is one of the easiest to maintain, once it is established.  It is a favourite for the time poor gardener, as it needs minimal mowing and fertilising.  It is one of the slowest growing turf’s which does mean it takes time to establish, but once established needs less mowing compared to other varieties, it is also slower to repair than other turf types.  Empire Zoysia is hard wearing, with a rich dark green colour and is drought tolerant.  In low traffic areas, Empire Zoysia can tolerate shade, however in high traffic areas, it struggles in shade, it is best grown in warmer areas, with more direct sunlight.  It is known as the low maintenance turf, due to its slow growth and can be mowed with a rotary mower.
